2026 Global Event Journey

Eidetic Marketing is a global experiential marketing agency designing brand experiences across technology, culture, and live environments. We work with brands to deliver physical, human-centered experiences through exhibitions and global events.

Rather than focusing on standalone campaigns, Eidetic operates where audiences gather in real life. Each global event provides context for understanding how people interact with brands in physical spaces, beyond screens and digital touchpoints.

In 2026, our work spans major global events across tech, gaming, sports, and pop culture. This journey reflects how we approach the year ahead—by observing real environments, real audiences, and real behavior.

2026 global event schedule EIDETIC MARKETING

CES

The year opened in Las Vegas from January 6–9, where we successfully wrapped CES 2026 together with Roborock. CES once again proved why it remains the world’s most influential technology exhibition—not because of announcements alone, but because it is where innovation is tested in front of real audiences. From spatial design to live interaction, CES set the tone for how technology brands must perform, not just present, in 2026.

Each global event on this journey reveals different signals—how brands perform in physical spaces, how audiences engage beyond screens, and how experiences translate across cultures.

Mobile World Congress

Taking place from March 2–5, Mobile World Congress defines the structural backbone of the global tech year. Connectivity, platforms, and infrastructure dominate the conversation here, often shaping market direction long before it becomes visible to consumers. MWC is where strategy quietly forms, making it essential for understanding how technology positions itself within everyday life.

Game Developers Conference

Held from March 9–13, GDC is where the game industry looks inward. Developers, publishers, and creators gather to talk about sustainability, production realities, and long-term ecosystems. Less spectacle, more substance—GDC reveals how strong engagement is built through process, not promotion.

Shanghai AWE

Running from March 12–15, AWE focuses on the moment when advanced technology becomes routine. Smart homes, appliances, and connected living solutions take center stage, offering a clear look at how innovation integrates into daily behavior. It’s a reminder that adoption is driven by usability, not novelty.

NVIDIA GTC

From March 15–19, NVIDIA GTC highlights the operational reality of AI. Infrastructure, GPUs, and applied use cases converge here, showing how abstract capability turns into scalable systems. For brands, GTC emphasizes a growing challenge: making highly technical innovation understandable, tangible, and credible.

PAX East

Taking place March 26–29, PAX East is driven entirely by player energy. Loud, emotional, and community-led, it demonstrates how engagement forms naturally when audiences are invited to participate rather than observe. It’s where gaming culture feels most alive.

Auto China

Held in Beijing from April 24 to May 3, Auto China—also known as the Beijing Auto Show—is one of the world’s largest automotive exhibitions. It showcases how vehicles are evolving beyond transportation into software-driven, experience-focused platforms, reflecting the automotive industry’s shift toward lifestyle, connectivity, and user-centric design.

FIFA World Cup

Running from June 11 to July 19, the FIFA World Cup remains one of the few moments when the entire world watches together. Sport, emotion, and national identity converge at a truly global scale. In 2026, Eidetic works alongside Hisense, an official FIFA World Cup sponsor, delivering brand experiences within one of the most culturally powerful stages in the world. For brands, the World Cup is not about visibility alone—it’s about participating in culture, not interrupting it.

Anime Expo

Held July 2–5, Anime Expo highlights how fandom-driven culture continues to expand globally. IPs here are not passively consumed but actively reinterpreted and shared by communities that carry stories far beyond the venue.
Shortly after, the focus shifts just down the coast.

NIKKE at Anime Expo

San Diego Comic-Con

From July 23–26, San Diego Comic-Con brings together the most influential entertainment IPs across film, television, games, and comics. With its proximity in both time and place, SDCC amplifies the momentum built at Anime Expo—scaling fan energy into global entertainment narratives.

ChinaJoy

Taking place July 31–August 3, ChinaJoy reflects both the scale and velocity of the Asian gaming market. Industry ambition meets mass consumer enthusiasm, offering insight into how entertainment ecosystems expand rapidly through direct audience engagement.

Comic Market C108

Held August 15–16, Comic Market C108 centers on independent creators and grassroots communities. It shows how culture often begins at the edges—built through passion, participation, and personal storytelling long before it reaches the mainstream.

Gamescom

Running August 26–30, Gamescom represents the gaming industry at full scale. Major announcements, global media, and massive audiences converge, making it a key moment for understanding how games are positioned worldwide.

Mecha BREAK at Gamescom

Tokyo Game Show

From September 17–21, Tokyo Game Show offers a distinctly Japanese perspective on gaming. Precision, artistry, and technology coexist, reinforcing how regional identity continues to shape global trends.

New York Comic Con

Held October 8–11, New York Comic Con reflects the pace and diversity of its city. Pop culture here feels immediate, audience-driven, and constantly evolving through interaction.

Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix

Taking place November 19–21, the Las Vegas Grand Prix transforms sport into spectacle. Racing, entertainment, and immersive brand experiences merge into a single cultural event.

G-STAR

Running November 19–22, G-STAR offers a clear view into the Korean and broader Asian gaming landscape, where industry direction meets real-time public response.

Anime Game Festival

Held in early December, AGF(Anime Game Festival) closes the year with high-energy fan engagement, celebrating anime and games as shared cultural spaces.

NIKKE at AGF

Comic Market C109

Taking place in late December, Comic Market C109 brings the year to a close by returning to its foundation—creators, communities, and personal stories that often signal what comes next.

Looking Ahead

As we look across this year’s global event journey, one thing is clear: 2026 is already moving fast. From technology and gaming to sports and pop culture, these moments set the rhythm of the year ahead. We’re excited to keep building, learning, and showing up where it matters most. Here’s to another year of experiences worth remembering—and we look forward to what’s ahead, together.

Game Developers Conference (GDC): How the Event Works

What Is the Game Developers Conference?

Game Developers Conference (GDC) is a developer-focused conference built for people who make games.

Each year, developers across disciplines—engineering, design, art, production, and business—gather to share how games are built in practice. The conference centers on technical knowledge, production experience, and peer-to-peer learning, with sessions led by industry practitioners.

In 2025, GDC brought together approximately 30,000 attendees, more than 400 exhibitors, and speakers from over 100 countries, with hundreds of sessions taking place across the week.

GDC 2025 overview Game Developers Conference
GDC 2025 Overview

Conference: March 9–13, 2026
Festival: March 11–13, 2026

In 2026, GDC will be presented under the name GDC Festival of Gaming.
The event runs across a five-day conference schedule, with Festival programming concentrated over the final three days.

The Conference period covers the full range of sessions, including technical talks, postmortems, panels, and keynotes.
The Festival period aligns with peak on-site activity, featuring expanded networking, community-driven programs, and evening events.

Who Attends GDC?

The audience at the Game Developers Conference is professional and role-driven.

Core attendees include game developers across engineering, design, art, and production.
Senior developers, technical leads, creative directors, and studio founders also attend in large numbers.

In recent years, attendance has expanded. Indie developers, small studio teams, tool and middleware builders, and platform partners now make up a larger share of the audience.

As roles in the game industry become less rigid, GDC attracts professionals who work across development, technology, and community. This shift continues to shape how the event evolves.

How GDC Programs Are Structured

Conference Sessions Are the Core

Game Developers Conference is, first and foremost, a conference.
The main content of the event is its extensive lineup of conference sessions.

Throughout the day, attendees move between technical talks, design discussions, production postmortems, business sessions, and keynotes. Multiple sessions run in parallel, and there is no single agenda that everyone follows.

Instead of a fixed program, GDC operates as a self-directed learning environment. Attendees build their own schedules based on their role, interests, and level of experience, using the official session planner to navigate the density of content.

Expo Floor and Industry Booths

Beyond the conference rooms, GDC also features a large expo floor where companies across the game industry present their work.

These booths cover a wide range of areas, from studios introducing new games or works in progress, to engine and platform providers, middleware companies, production tools, and specialized technologies. In many cases, what is showcased is not a finished product but a technique, workflow, or solution that supports game development.

Unlike consumer expos, GDC booths are designed less around spectacle and more around conversation. They function as spaces for demos, practical discussion, and professional exchange.

For many attendees, exploring the expo floor is one of the defining parts of the GDC experience, offering a way to see how different segments of the game industry intersect beyond their own role.

Learning Beyond Formal Sessions

Learning at GDC does not stop at scheduled talks.

Informal conversations at booths, spontaneous meetings between sessions, and discussions in common areas often provide as much value as formal presentations. This blend of structured sessions and unstructured interaction is central to how knowledge circulates at GDC.

The conference is intentionally designed to support both planned learning and unexpected discovery.

Evening Programs and Community Events

While conference sessions and the expo floor shape the daytime experience, some of GDC’s most recognizable programs take place in the evening.

The Developer’s Concert celebrates game music as a creative discipline and has become a long-standing tradition within the developer community.

The Independent Games Festival (IGF) highlights innovation in independent game development, recognizing creative achievement across solo developers and small teams.

The Game Developers Choice Awards (GDCA) are uniquely peer-driven, with winners selected by fellow developers to honor craft, impact, and contribution.

These evening programs are often described as the most “festival-like” moments of GDC. However, they remain firmly industry-facing, serving as moments of recognition and shared identity rather than public showcases.

What to Expect at BlizzCon 2026

According to Blizzard, BlizzCon 2026 will bring back its signature programs — the Opening Ceremony, developer panels, and the Darkmoon Faire. It will also feature global esports competitions, hands-on gameplay zones, and other community activities.

Darkmoon Faire

A longtime fan favorite, the Darkmoon Faire is Blizzard’s in-person carnival experience — a themed zone filled with game-inspired activities, photo spots, exclusive merchandise, and collectibles.
It’s where the digital worlds of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, and StarCraft come to life, allowing fans to step directly into Blizzard’s universe between panels and tournaments.

Esports Competitions

BlizzCon 2026 will also host the finals of Blizzard’s top global tournaments. Professional players and fans from around the world will gather in Anaheim for the ultimate showdown.

  • ✔️Overwatch World Cup Finals
  • ✔️World of Warcraft Grand Finals
  • ✔️World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Grand Finals

Together, these competitions showcase the best of Blizzard’s competitive scene and bring the energy of its global community into one shared space in Anaheim.

Other Major Game Studio Festivals

Beyond BlizzCon, many other large-scale gaming festivals have become fan favorites among global audiences.

Riot Games hosts the League of Legends World Championship, a massive esports and music-driven event that fills stadiums across the world.

Square Enix continues to engage its Final Fantasy community through the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival, a touring celebration held in Tokyo, Las Vegas, and London.

Epic Games also brings players together with the Fortnite Festival, where gaming, concerts, and creator culture blend into a single live experience.

These offline gatherings, once paused during the pandemic, are making a strong comeback. In-person festivals are again becoming key drivers of fan engagement and brand storytelling across the gaming industry.

How Offline Events Shape Game Brand Experiences

BlizzCon has always been more than a gaming convention — it’s a space where a brand’s world becomes tangible.
For Blizzard, this physical gathering of players, creators, and developers transforms digital communities into immersive, shared brand experiences.

These shared moments — cheering at reveals, meeting teammates in person, or walking through a universe they helped build — deepen players’ engagement and strengthen their connection to the brand’s storytelling.

For game studios, the lesson is clear:
offline festivals are not just celebrations, they’re strategic extensions of world-building.
They expand the game’s universe beyond the screen, foster community loyalty, and generate content that continues to live long after the event ends.

Game Festivals with Eidetic Marketing

At Eidetic Marketing, we’ve collaborated with global game brands across a wide range of offline experiences — including World Cyber Games (WCG), Tencent Roadshow, and major international festivals like Gamescom, Anime Expo, and Tokyo Game Show (TGS).

Through these projects, we continue to help studios bring their visions to life, connect with players in meaningful ways, and strengthen their presence in the global gaming community.

How to Write an RFP for G-STAR Booth Design & Production

What to Include in Your G-STAR Booth Proposal

A great proposal starts with a great RFP. At G-STAR, your booth should go beyond attractive design—it should reflect your brand identity and immerse visitors in your IP. Your RFP (Request for Proposal) becomes the foundation for turning those ideas into reality.

Whether your goal is viral social content, high visitor engagement, or a bold brand statement, a well-crafted RFP helps your agency align with your vision and deliver an exceptional result.

Here’s how to structure your G-STAR RFP for clarity, efficiency, and impact:

Essential Elements of a G-STAR RFP

1. Project Overview

Provide essential background and goals to guide strategy and creative planning.

  • Event Name, Date, and Venue
    (e.g. G-STAR 2025, Nov 13–16, BEXCO, Busan)
  • Participating Game/IP and Unique Selling Points (USPs)
(e.g. cross-platform gameplay, global fanbase, new launch)
  • Target Audience or Region
    (China-only, Asia-wide, global)
  • Exhibition Goals & KPIs
(brand awareness, media impressions, foot traffic, demo play count)

2. Booth & Experience Design

Outline the physical layout and overall visitor experience of your booth.

  • Zone and Booth Info
BTC / BTB / Outdoor, assigned booth number, floor plan (if available)
  • Booth Dimensions and Flow
    Booth size (width × depth).
(If you have any specific entry points, nearby anchors, or visitor flow insights, feel free to include them.)
  • Core Booth Elements
Main stage, LED screen, demo zones (PC/mobile/console), merch zone, photo zone, info desk, storage, queue setup, etc.
  • Quantity & Specifications for Each Element
(e.g. 10 PC demo units, 3 LED walls, 2 photo zones)

Desired theme, visual tone, concept keywords, and brand references (color palette, typography, etc.)
  • IP Prioritization
Space allocation or messaging focus by title or content category

A strong RFP sets the tone for everything that follows—from creative ideas to final execution. When your goals, priorities, and materials are clearly defined, your agency can respond with sharper strategies and more compelling proposals.

Over the past few years, we’ve brought ideas to life on the G-STAR show floor—whether it was Webzen’s standout 2024 booth, EA Sports’ immersive setup in 2023, Flint’s subculture-inspired space in 2022, or SHIFTUP’s Nikke debut in 2021.

Booth Strategy Q&A for B2C and Offsite Activations

On November 13, G-STAR Korea will once again take over BEXCO in Busan, drawing in over a thousand game companies and tens of thousands of fans. In 2024, the event hosted 1,375 exhibitors and 3,359 booths, making it the largest game convention in Korea. Let’s break down everything you need to know about booth designation, outdoor activation rules, and how to stand out in the crowd.

G-STAR Booth Strategy Q&A

How do I get a good booth location at G-STAR?

G-STAR booth designation is based on application period, booth size, past participation, and compliance history. Priority is given in the following order:

1. Super Early Bird Exhibitors (Large-scale participants)
– Companies applying for 200+ booths: Priority selection within designated zones (BTC North, East, West)
– Companies applying for 40+ BTC and 40+ BTB booths: Booth selection via lottery within the finalized layout

2. Early Applicants
– Companies applying for 40+ BTC or 20+ BTB booths: Assigned after super early bird placement, with possible location coordination

3. General & Small-scale Exhibitors
– Booths assigned by organizers based on layout

To maximize your visibility, it’s crucial to confirm participation early, secure a booth location, prepare your RFP, and select a capable agency partner.

Where is the best booth location at G-STAR?

Most attendees enter through the central gate of BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1, which immediately exposes them to zones D02 and D03. These areas are prime real estate.
In high-traffic events like G-STAR, booth designation directly impacts performance. A centrally located booth maximizes visibility, encourages hands-on engagement, and drives social media buzz.

Who stole the spotlight at G-Star 2024?

Some of the most impactful brand moments happen where the crowds naturally gather. These locations have proven to be prime zones for G-Star-related outdoor events and activations:

1. Busan Station

As one of the city’s busiest transportation hubs, Busan Station sees a massive influx of visitors arriving by KTX and regional trains—especially during G-Star week. It’s the perfect location for large-format OOH campaigns, station dominations, and welcome visuals that make a first impression as soon as attendees step off the train.

2. Haeundae Beach

A major tourist destination all year round, Haeundae transforms into a festival zone during G-Star. The beach and nearby plaza areas draw both locals and visitors, especially in the evening. It’s ideal for nighttime activations like drone shows, open-air events, or lifestyle branding experiences that connect gaming with pop culture.

3. Gwangalli Beach

Known for its scenic ocean view and the iconic Gwangan Bridge, this beach attracts a younger crowd looking for social hangout spots. The beachfront road and wide pedestrian areas make it suitable for interactive booths, experience zones, and social-media-friendly installations.

4. Centum City

Located near BEXCO, Centum City includes one of the largest shopping malls in Korea (Shinsegae) and is a popular stop for G-Star attendees. With heavy foot traffic from both gamers and everyday shoppers, this area is perfect for spillover marketing, hybrid online-offline campaigns, and walk-through activations.

Next, let’s take a look at how some brands used these spots for outdoor ads and events during G-Star. Here are a few examples of how brands have promoted themselves at these locations.

Drone Show

As the main sponsor of G-Star 2023, Wemade took outdoor marketing to the next level by organizing a massive drone show over Haeundae Beach. This spectacle wasn’t just for entertainment—it was a bold promotional move for their upcoming game titles and blockchain platform, WEMIX. With synchronized drones forming symbols, characters, and brand visuals in the night sky, Wemade effectively captured public attention beyond the exhibition hall and reinforced its identity as a forward-thinking tech brand.

Metro Branding

To extend the reach of G-Star branding throughout the city, the Busan Information Industry Promotion Agency launched a G-Star themed metro train. This train wrapped in promotional visuals connected Centum City with central transit hubs, drawing the attention of commuters and tourists alike.

OOH Advertising Plan in Busan

During G-Star season, OOH advertising becomes a powerful tool to capture attention even before attendees reach the show floor. With strategic placements in high-traffic areas, brands can maximize exposure to both local residents and inbound visitors.

Key OOH zones for G-Star:

  • Busan Station area: As the main arrival point for many out-of-town visitors, this area is ideal for large billboards, digital signage, and wall wraps. Ads here create an early and lasting impression.
  • Bus stops around Haeundae Beach and other major tourist zones: These are perfect for street-level posters, shelter ads, and side panels that target casual pedestrians and beachgoers.
  • Near BEXCO and Centum City: Surrounding the exhibition center, this area allows brands to reinforce messaging through lamp post banners, transit ads, and large-scale banners—reaching attendees on their way to the venue.

These OOH touchpoints help build anticipation, reinforce brand presence, and guide foot traffic toward key activations.

Experiential Setups & Photo Spots

Epic Games attracted attention with a life-sized “Battle Bus” installation at Haeundae Beach and large-scale branded banners. The immersive setup served as both a fan engagement point and a visual anchor for outdoor media coverage.

Outdoor Marketing: More Than Just Hype

Outdoor activations extend the visitor experience far beyond the show floor. They amplify awareness, drive foot traffic, and offer fans more accessible ways to engage with brands, even without a show badge. In Busan’s open-air settings, brands can go bigger, louder, and more unexpected—turning the whole city into a stage.

Gemini vs. ChatGPT: Who’s Leading the AI Race?

AI Trends Explored Through Google I/O 2025

When we first published our article on AI in early 2024, AI was rapidly transforming the design landscape—unlocking new tools, workflows, and creative possibilities. Since then, it hasn’t just evolved—it has expanded in every direction.

Fast forward to 2025, and AI is no longer an external force designers adopt. It’s becoming a native layer in everything from visual generation and product design to search, software, and even hardware. That shift was on full display at Google I/O 2025 Keynote, where Google introduced major advancements in its Gemini ecosystem—signaling a direct challenge to OpenAI’s dominance with ChatGPT.

So where do the two leading AI platforms stand today? Let’s take a closer look at Gemini vs. ChatGPT.

Gemini vs. ChatGPT: Robot Image Generated By AI

Key Announcements at Google I/O 2025

1. AI Model Gemini 2.5 Pro & Flash Updates

Google announced continuous improvements to its core Gemini models, emphasizing efficiency and advanced reasoning.

Gemini 2.5 Pro received an “experimental enhanced reasoning mode” called Deep Think, utilizing parallel thinking techniques for highly complex tasks like math and coding. This aims to improve the model’s ability to consider multiple hypotheses before responding, a crucial aspect for tackling intricate problems. Gemini 2.5 Flash also received updates for stronger performance in coding and complex reasoning, optimized for speed and efficiency.

Veo & Imagen 3

Google showcased advancements in its generative media models. While specific versions like “Veo 3” and “Imagen 4” were mentioned as powering tools and experiences, the overall focus was on enabling more creative control and high-quality generation of video and images. A new AI filmmaking tool called Flow, built with and for creatives using Google DeepMind’s models, was introduced, allowing for cinematic film creation with control over characters, scenes, and styles.

2. Agentic AI & Project Astra

The concept of AI agents, capable of proactive assistance and multi-step tasks, was a central theme.

Project Astra

This ambitious long-term project was publicly demonstrated, showing a “universal AI assistant” capable of perceiving and understanding the world through live camera and screen-sharing, reasoning across modalities, and having fluid, conversational interactions. The AI demonstrated memory of past interactions and observations, moving towards a truly intelligent and assistive agent. Gemini Live now incorporates Project Astra’s camera and screen-sharing capabilities.

Google is also bringing agentic capabilities to Chrome, Search, and the Gemini app, with a new Agent Mode in Gemini designed to help users get more done by understanding intent and executing complex tasks.

3. Search AI Mode & AI Shopping

Google’s flagship product, Search, is being fundamentally reshaped by AI.

AI Mode

Now available to all U.S. users, AI Mode (formerly AI Overviews) provides AI-generated summaries directly in search results. It combines information from multiple sources to deliver clear, concise answers, and has already led to a 10% increase in usage for relevant queries.

Deep Search

For more complex, research-heavy queries, Deep Search offers richer, more in-depth responses. It’s currently being tested in Labs as part of AI Mode’s ongoing development.

AI Shopping

Google is enhancing the shopping experience with interactive product panels, personalized recommendations, and an “agentic checkout” feature that tracks prices and notifies users when they drop.

4. AI Devices: Google Glass, Google Beam, and Android XR

Google’s vision for AI extends to hardware, with new integrations and platforms.

Android XR & Google Glass

While a specific new Google Glass device wasn’t a standalone announcement, Android XR was a significant focus. This platform aims to bring spatial computing and immersive experiences to devices. New eyewear partners like Gentle Monster and Warby Parker will build glasses with Android XR, indicating a move towards smart glasses that leverage Android and, by extension, Gemini’s capabilities for real-time information overlay and augmented reality.

Image from Google’s official blog post

Real-time Translation

The advancements in multimodal AI and Project Astra’s ability to understand the environment and provide real-time information strongly imply enhanced real-time translation capabilities, though a dedicated “real-time interpreter” device announcement was not the primary focus.

Google Beam

This was demonstrated as a new state-of-the-art video model that transforms 2D video streams into a realistic 3D experience using an array of six cameras and AI, rendering users on a 3D lightfield display. While not a consumer device per se, it showcases Google’s advanced research into immersive AI experiences.

Gemini vs. ChatGPT: A Quick Look

ChatGPT excels in creative writing, natural conversation, and coding assistance. Many users rely on it to draft emails, write stories, debug code, and explain complex topics in a conversational tone.

On the other hand, Gemini shines when it comes to working within the Google ecosystem. It integrates naturally with tools like Gmail, Docs, Drive, and Calendar, making it a convenient assistant for users who already rely on Google’s productivity apps. From summarizing emails to drafting documents or helping organize schedules, Gemini is designed to work where many people already do.

If you’re looking for a tool that helps with creative content and programming tasks, ChatGPT is likely the better fit. But if your workflow depends heavily on the Google ecosystem and you need live access to current information, Gemini may serve you better.

Gemini vs. ChatGPT Pricing

Can Google Catch Up to ChatGPT?

As of now, ChatGPT dominates the generative AI market with over 80% share, according to Statcounter. In contrast, Google’s Gemini holds just around 2%, signaling a significant gap. But that might not last forever.

The 2025 Google I/O keynote made it clear: Google is serious about closing that gap. With powerful tools like Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Android already integrated into users’ lives, Gemini has the potential to become more than just an alternative—it could become the default. If its performance matches ChatGPT’s, the seamless integration across Google’s ecosystem could lead many users to switch.

But instead of viewing this as a head-to-head rivalry, it may be more accurate to see the two AIs heading in different directions. ChatGPT will likely continue evolving as an educational and research-focused assistant—strong in structured reasoning, content generation, and Q&A tasks.

Gemini, by contrast, will become a lifestyle AI, deeply embedded into Google’s hardware ecosystem—from smart glasses and mobile devices to in-car systems. Just as Google has long blended software with consumer hardware successfully, Gemini aims to assist users in their everyday lives with more context-aware, real-world support.

In that sense, the question may not be who wins, but how each AI finds its role.
This divergence signals a broader shift in how we think about AI—not as a single winner-takes-all race, but as a future shaped by different tools for different needs.

Exhibit at Gamescom 2025 FAQ

EA sports football club in the game show exhibition, exhibit at Gamescom

Gamescom is more than just the world’s largest gaming event—it’s where the global industry meets, connects, and launches.

Every year, its scale grows, setting new benchmarks for both business and fan engagement. In 2024, global publishers like Hoyoverse, Bandai Namco, and Krafton showcased their latest titles to a packed crowd of 335,000 attendees across 3 million square feet of exhibition space.

With Gamescom 2025 fast approaching, we’ve compiled key FAQs to help you plan, exhibit, and stand out.

How to exhibit at Gamescom?

The first thing you need to do is secure your booth.

Gamescom is a large-scale show with high traffic, and booth location significantly affects visibility and visitor engagement. Without a confirmed booth, it’s hard to estimate budget, design, or plan on-site operations.

Early registration is highly recommended to secure a favorable location and get better pricing.

When can I apply for Gamescom 2025?

Gamescom registration is divided into two phases. The Early Bird deadline is February 21, 2025, and the Regular deadline is July 9, 2025.

What are the benefits of early registration for Gamescom?

Early Bird registration provides two main advantages: a booth fee discount of approximately 10%, and priority in selecting booth locations.

Late registrations often get assigned leftover spots, which may not be in high-traffic areas. Returning exhibitors may receive preferred locations based on past participation.

When is Gamescom 2025 and what’s the event schedule?

Gamescom 2025 will take place in Cologne from August 20 to 24, starting with Opening Night Live (ONL) on August 19.

B2B and B2C areas operate on different schedules. Events like Gamescom City Festival will also take place across central Cologne, turning the whole city into a gaming celebration.

What is Opening Night Live (ONL)?

Opening Night Live(ONL) is the official kick-off show for Gamescom, held the evening before the main event.

Hosted by Geoff Keighley since 2019, ONL features global premieres and live game presentations from major publishers.

It is livestreamed on Twitch, YouTube, and the official Gamescom website, reaching more than 1.5 million concurrent viewers and over 540 million total views to date.

ONL is a major opportunity for global exposure, often used to tease new IPs or showcase cinematic trailers before launch.

What about the Gamescom Awards?

Gamescom Awards are an important PR tool for many developers and publishers. Studios can submit their titles online throughout July. Nominees are announced when the event begins, and winners are revealed on the final Friday of the show.

Winning a Gamescom Award often boosts visibility, media coverage, and consumer trust prior to release.

How to Book a Booth at Gamescom 2025

With thousands of gamers and industry professionals gathering at Gamescom every year, proper preparation is key to running a successful booth. As the early bird deadline approaches, inquiries from game companies have surged, particularly regarding booth registration, location selection, and exhibition regulations.

In our previous guide, we covered Gamescom’s key information. Now, let’s dive into how to book a booth at Gamescom 2025 and strategic tips for securing the best location.

The Earlier, The Better:
Gamescom Booth Application

  • Early Bird Registration Deadline: February 21, 2025
  • • Regular Registration Deadline: July 9, 2025

How much does it cost to book a Gamescom booth early?

  1. • Discounted Booth Fees – Gamescom early bird applicants receive an estimated 10% discount compared to regular registration.
  2. Priority in Booth Location Selection – The earlier you apply, the better your chances of securing a high-traffic location.

Applying late significantly reduces the chances of getting an ideal booth spot. Regular exhibitors are often assigned priority locations, while late applicants are allocated remaining spaces after the initial placements are completed.

Gamescom Booth Location Tips:
High-Traffic Areas & Visitor Flow

gamescom 2025 hall plan exhibition hall visitor flow
Gamescom Hall Plan – Visitor Flow

The Gamescom 2024 hall plan highlights the busiest visitor pathways inside the venue. Reviewing past layouts can help you choose the best booth location.

  • 2023 B2C Halls: 6, 8, 9, 10 (Event Hall: 7)
  • 2024 B2C Halls: 6, 7, 9, 10 (Event Hall: 8)
  • 2025 B2C Layout: Subject to change

Most general visitors enter through the North Entrance of Koelnmesse, and booths located along the main pathway highlighted in the floor plan naturally benefit from higher foot traffic. In particular, visitors heading toward Hall 10 tend to use the passage connecting Hall 9, making it a key area for maximizing visibility

💡 Key Booth Location Tips

📍 North Entrance → Hall 8 (Event Area) → Main Pathway → Halls 6, 7, 9 (B2C Area) → Hall 10 (Indie Games Area)
If your booth is in Hall 10, choose a location close to the Hall 9 connection for maximum visitor flow.

2025 Gamescom Booth Cost

All booth applications must be submitted through the official Gamescom website. Since pricing varies based on booth type and size, careful planning is essential.

Types of Booths & Pricing Factors

  • • B2B-only vs. B2C+B2B participation impacts cost and eligibility.
  • • Booth types such as Corner Stand or Island Stand have different pricing structures.

Mandatory Additional Fees

In addition to the base rental fee, mandatory additional charges apply:

  • • Energy Fee – €16.00 per sqm (covers electricity & facility usage)
  • • AUMA Fee – €0.60 per sqm (German trade fair promotion fund)
  • • Gamescom Now Package – Marketing & promotional fee (€975 for B2C booths, €330 for B2B booths)

These costs are automatically calculated when applying via the Gamescom business website. Once you enter details like your booth size, type, and registration date, the system will calculate the total cost based on various pricing factors.

See the example below for a detailed cost breakdown.

Gamescom booth price automatic calculator on the business website

Essential Booth Application Rules

Before applying, keep in mind the following:

  1. 1. B2C booth required for consumer-targeted (end-user) games.
  2. 2. B2B booth size must not exceed 1.5x the B2C booth size. For example, if your B2C booth is 50 sqm, your B2B booth can be up to 75 sqm.
  3. 3. Booth assignments are determined by the organizer.

Once your booth application is confirmed, it’s time to focus on design, installation approvals, and compliance. Working with an experienced agency can streamline the process and help avoid complications.

Beyond the exhibition halls, Gamescom is a festival featuring diverse events across the city. Since last year, the Gamescom City Festival has taken over Rudolfplatz and Hohenzollernring, with live performances, gaming showcases, and food markets adding to the excitement.

Additionally, many game developers and publishers leverage the Gamescom Awards as a major marketing tool. Game studios can submit their upcoming titles online throughout July, with nominees announced on opening day in August. The awards ceremony, typically held on the final Friday of Gamescom, is a powerful way to generate buzz before a game’s release.

Gamescom Opening Night Live (ONL)

Gamescom ONL: A Global Branding Opportunity

ONL isn’t just an opening ceremony—it’s a global marketing event live-streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and Gamescom’s official website. Major game studios use ONL to debut trailers, with developers taking the stage to share insights about their games.

In 2024, Hoyoverse showcased Zenless Zone Zero, Bandai Namco unveiled Tekken 8, and Krafton introduced Dark and Darker. The event’s massive reach makes it a prime opportunity for game marketing.

Gamescom 2025 ONL Sponsorship & Costs

Only exhibitors with a minimum booth size of 100m² can apply for ONL sponsorship. Pricing is based on video length:

While the cost is significant, the exposure is unparalleled—ONL viewership exceeds 540 million. Because ONL shapes the first impression of a game, developers should create high-impact trailers and strategically plan content if showcasing multiple IPs.

Gamescom’s Massive Exhibition Hall – Koelnmesse

Gamescom takes place at Koelnmesse, spanning 3,060,000 sqft, making it one of the largest gaming expos in the world.
For comparison, Anime Expo is held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, which is 720,000 sqft—Gamescom’s venue is more than four times larger.

A Legacy of Innovation

IFA, short for Internationale Funkausstellung, originally meant “International Radio Exhibition,” reflecting its early focus on wireless communication and radio technology. Since its debut in 1924, IFA has stood at the forefront of technological evolution, serving as a platform for groundbreaking innovations.

One of the most notable moments in IFA’s history came in 1930 when renowned physicist Albert Einstein took the stage as a keynote speaker. His speech explored the transformative power of electromagnetic waves and radio technology, offering a visionary perspective on how science and communication could shape the future. This milestone solidified IFA’s role not just as a trade show, but as a hub for scientific and technological progress.
